Solar Panels - An Overview
With the increasing “push” for renewable energy resources, it’s vital to understand solar energy and how it is used to generate electricity for our households and workplaces.
To understand the solar energy system, you have to understand the backbone of this system firstโthe solar panels. Solar panels are made of solar cells that are capable of converting solar energy into electricity. The solar cells are composed of layers of silicon, boron, and phosphorus. These metals capture solar energy and convert it into DC (Direct Current).
Solar panels come in different sizes. You can choose a solar panel based on the area that you have to power. Solar panels are connected to solar inverters and batteries to form a solar energy system.
Types of Solar Panels
Monocrystalline Solar Panels
Monocrystalline solar panels or single-crystal solar panels are made of pure silicon. The purest form of silicon is cut into wafers to make solar cells. Pure silicon panels are the most spacious and long-lasting panels with deep black color. Due to the use of pure silicon, it comes with a hefty price tag.
Polycrystalline Solar Panels
Polycrystalline solar panels are made from different silicon crystals that are melted and shaped into a characteristic square. As silicon isn’t in its purest form, these solar panels are less efficient but more affordable than monocrystalline solar panels. They are also less efficient in high temperatures due to their less heat tolerance.
Passivated Emitter And Rare Cell Panels (PERC)
It’s a new technology and a modification of the traditional monocrystalline solar panels. A passivated layer underneath helps reflect the energy that is otherwise wasted. So, passivated emitter and rare cell panels (PERC) are extremely efficient and are great to use in limited spaces where large solar panels can’t be installed.
Thin-film Solar Panels
As the name indicated, they are made of thin layers that make them flexible and easy to install. They don’t need a frame backing and thus can be installed anywhere easily. Unlike other solar panels, they come in a variety of sizes. But thin-film solar panels are less efficient than traditional silicon solar panels.
Inverex Solar Panels
Inverex is a certified and authorized leading solar brand with a range of solar panels to choose from. We have Inverex monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels in a variety of sizes. Inverex solar panels are reliable, with the capability of optimum performance in the commercial and industrial sectors as well.
